We had the opportunity to write a song for a film called The Luckiest Girl on The Lower East Side. We met up with filmmaker Amy Leonard on friday night to make it movie worthy. It was a lot of fun!
And our plans for saturday / sunday? Recording the EP.
(Re)Recording “Cyclops”
December 6, 2009Black Diamond Video Shoot
November 26, 2009That’s right, a MUSIC VIDEO. We went to Baltimore back in October to do a shoot with our friend Miguel from Polygon Tree Productions. He also hosted a great show that weekend with Ava Luna, 2n3904 and Lands & Peoples. Lands & Peoples are too good, check em out.
I think we’ve played in Baltimore 5 times within the year, so it’s settled. WE. LOVE. BALTIMORE!
Won’t give too much away, so here are a few pictures from the shoot. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

an inevitable speeding ticket
November 23, 2009I admit. I am guilty of speeding down I-80. Dawn at the brink of break, and more than 5 hours deep into the overnight haul from cleveland to nyc, I was pulled over and handed a $120 ticket (“the cheapest ticket you’ll get in PA,” the officer consoled me) for going 60mph in a 55 limit.. Pls don’t ask how fast I was actually going. Alex says he was nice to me cos I’m a girl, though generally “PA cops are the meanest” (words he muttered just a few moments before I passed a radar gun… Too many coincidences this trip – ie, flashing lights at yellow barn, garfield park, donkey kong, mexican food, couples with cats).
We left at 12:40 and rolled into bklyn 8 hours later, after dropping off nathan and fel on canal and lafayette. Wish I coulda dropped em home, esp since fel has a cold, but morning rush hour is a nightmare
So we split across town from the holland tunnel to the manhattan bdge, sped under the verrazano, and a heart stopping false alarm when a cruiser creeps behind me, threatening me with another ticket… and finally home at last. Coney island feels especially dreary and cold after such an eventful week under a bright blue sky.
Nathan and alex are at work now.
Thanks alex btw, for shooting the shits with me for 7 hours. U rocked shotgun and had lots of useless nonsense to blab on about (nuclear fusion/fission was by far my fav topic). Nice work with mappage too.
I wonder what carlos and felicia are up to.
I want to clean out my fridge today.
Tour over. The end.
morgan + brian
November 23, 2009Athens, Ohio: Brian got us a show in a basement across from a cemetary. He played with Seascapes.
After our sets, there was still an hour left before last call (@2am) so we went over to the local bar to shoot pool before crashing at brian and morgan’s new crib.
Morgan made us cheesy scrambled eggs, country ham, homemade biscuits + gravy, sauteed spinach w cherry tomatos….
After breakfast and a few simpsons episodes, everyone watched a documentary about donkey kong, which happened to be at Now That’s Class – the venue in cleveland! We are only in this city for 3 hours or so, then we head back to nyc.
If you’re wondering what cleveland’s all about, we couldn’t tell you, but this bar has vegan food and PBR’s for $1.
Hope to make it back to brooklyn before morning rush hour
uh-oh!
November 21, 2009Turns out athens, ohio is 7+ hrs from chicago (not 3.5 hrs, as carlos thought)… Nonetheless, we’ve taken extra time to stuff our faces at jim’s original hot dog, where we feasted on hot dogs, polish sausages, porkchop sandwiches – all with free fries! Nathan chowed down on 4 jalapeno peppers. Eek.
Because of our somewhat massive delay, we may or may not have a show tonight, however, brian of spooktober (we played with them at hillstock) says he will try to rally a house party by the time we get there for us to play, as well as a fire.
lindsay + matt
November 21, 2009Lindsay + matt got married this spring at garfield park conservatory… We were just there yesterday… And I was just telling felicia how nice it would be for someone to get married there….!!
They live in a beautiful apartment somewhere very north, somewhere very reminiscent of park slope,
With 2 cute turtles who eat carrots right out of your hand!
See u in bklyn next spring <3
“In Chicagoooo!!! The lights will inspire you….”
In every city, we radio surf, and a certain song follows us everywhere.

chicago, part 2
November 20, 2009Last night we played at the whistler for chicagoans who sipped fancy cocktails. Tonight we play as part of a festival at “co-prosperity +____ ” on the south side of chicago (can’t remember the full name). Between gigs, felicia and alex relax by studying succulent plants at the garfield park conservatory.
Toronto -> Michigan, 6 hour drive
November 20, 2009after crossing the border into detroit… and a punk show at the yellow barn…
November 19, 2009Ann arbor: Dusenberry is a 2nd yr law student… And a ballroom dance aficionado. Their eyes r glued to end of days… Can’t… stop… watching…. Arnold…. escape…. the devil….

Fisheye in a juicy juice box for less than a buck each! Our handy flip + shaker – tools of the road.
Turns out nathan is bad at left turns. He makes a right 2 out of 3 times when told to turn left.
